Description

This guy has taken nearly ten years to finish! This pilot character was one of, if not the first, drawing I ever scanned. Originally a drawing I did while I was a teachers aid in high school, after having dropped a photography class. I only recently finished coloring him (he was only flat colors) and decided I wanted to give a real background, you know, make it a truly finished piece.

I’m not certain if he clothes are accurate, not that I am concerned; originally it was supposed to be the flight suit of some royal air force in a fantasy setting, with world war two styling. When I decided to go ahead a finish this piece, I originally made up some 40’s era futuristic plane, realizing how much it looked like a P38, I just decided to set that drawing aside and go with a real WWII fighter plane. A P38 is smaller than it looks...

One of the eight works mentioned here [link]

I had another idea, before I went to bed yesterday, to maybe have him standing next to a smoldering plane wreck...

Pilot drawn with a pencil on paper and scanned in, colored in Photoshop 7 and 8. Everything else done in CS2 on my Hanvon art tablet.

Funny, I notice this every year, that his scarf isn’t wrapped around his neck but still flaps in the wind... lets just assume its caught in the straps on his parachute pack.

I totally didn't notice the scarf. That's awesome.
